Day 6 – March 18th
Nothing like Parmigiano-Reggiano and a little bit of prosciutto before 10AM.
We were able to visit and explore the cheese factory. Yes, we really woke up at 6AM to go to a cheese factory in Italy… but it was totally worth it! They have been making their original parmesan cheese the exact same way for over 9 centuries, plus all of the cheese is created from only local cows! Everything was made by hand and tasted incredible. I, of course brought some home to share.

We then toured one of the largest producers of prosciutto. It reinforced my love of vegetables…

Day 5 – March 17th
Parma
Parma is a city in the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna famous for its ham, its cheese, its architecture and the fine countryside around it. This is the home of the University of Parma, one of the oldest universities in the world. Parma is divided into two parts by the little stream with the same name. Parma’s Etruscan name was adapted by Romans to describe the round shield called Parma.

We also discovered the delicious Otella Nerod Lambrusco wine from La Forchetta Ristorante. This was one of my favorite dinners as well! We ate here twice during our adventure and bought a few bottles of wine directly from the restaurant.

Italy Photoventure Day 4: Lucca, Italy

April 6th, 2011

Lucca The rain continued, but that couldn’t stop us from exploring the countryside of Italy! We explored the Devil Bridge and shopped in downtown Lucca. Lucca is the most civilized of Tuscany’s cities, a stately grid of Roman roads snug behind a mammoth belt of tree-topped battlements.
